Overview:A retained role partnering a large, UK-based organisation in the search for a commercially driven and strategically minded Finance Director to lead a key division within the business. Operating at significant scale, this division encompasses multiple brands and channels and is undergoing a transformation from a centralised to a more autonomous structure. This role is newly created and offers a rare opportunity to build a divisional finance function from the ground up.
The Opportunity:As Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in the divisional leadership team, working closely with the Managing Director and Group CFO. You will lead all aspects of finance across the division, taking ownership of performance management, insight generation, commercial support, reporting and compliance. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to shape both the finance structure and the divisional contribution to the wider organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic partner to the Divisional MD and Group CFO, supporting key commercial and investment decisions
- Full ownership of divisional P&L and balance sheet performance
- Design and implement the divisional finance function, including recruitment and structuring
- Oversee capital deployment and investment appraisal processes
- Lead financial planning, forecasting and performance reporting
- Develop reporting processes across a complex systems landscape
- Build and lead the Business Intelligence and insight function
- Provide leadership across supporting functions, including fleet, property, and operational compliance
About You:You will be an experienced and confident finance leader who thrives in transformational environments and enjoys building capability from the ground up. You will be commercially astute, collaborative in your approach, and credible with both senior stakeholders and operational teams.
Key Requirements:
- Significant post-qualification experience in senior finance leadership roles
- Demonstrable experience in a large, multi-site, operationally complex organisation
- Full P&L ownership and strong commercial acumen
- Evidence of building or transforming finance teams or functions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborative, hands-on, and adaptable leadership style
- Experience in a distribution or related sector
