Production Support Engineer
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Production Support Engineer to join a leading engineering company based in Lymington.
Introduction
The Production Support Engineer will be a key member of the Operations team, responsible for ensuring efficient, high-quality production through effective process control, equipment readiness, documentation, and staff capability. The role acts as the first point of contact for manufacturing issues and plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement and production culture.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the shop floor and production staff are equipped with the appropriate tools, documentation, and training to support efficient, high-quality manufacturing activities.
- Liaise closely with the Quality & Process Engineer to identify, investigate, and resolve quality-related issues.
- Lead / support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen activities.
- Ensure manufacturing equipment (including formers and presses) is maintained and serviced to agreed standards and available for use as required.
- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day manufacturing issues, escalating to the Operations Manager when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with Operations to improve layouts, workflows, and overall production efficiency.
- Become an active trainer of production skills and support handovers of new products and processes.
Ideal Experience
- 2–5 years’ experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of process control, process optimisation, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability (or willingness to learn) to maintain and support production equipment such as formers and presses.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools (preferred).
- Capability to train others and support effective handovers of new skills, products, and processes.
- Strong communication skills, and a good understanding of production documentation and standard operating procedures.
