We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing Tutor to support a 12-year-old learner with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN). The young person is currently awaiting a specialist school placement and requires individualised support in Maths and English, working at a Year 2 level for 10 hours per week.

  • Learning Style: Responds well to practical, engaging, and encouraging sessions
  • Likes: Painting, watching YouTube, hair styling


About the Role

  • Location: Lyndhurst
  • Subjects: Primarily Maths and English, with a strong focus on mentoring and social development

As a Tutor you will:

  • Deliver 10 hours of tuition per week (flexible scheduling)
  • Plan and deliver sessions that are interactive, motivating, and accessible
  • Build a trusting relationship to support emotional well being and engagement
  • Liaise with parents/carers and professionals to monitor progress and adapt strategies

About you:

  • Experience supporting learners with SEN, ideally in a 1:1 setting
  • Ability to deliver creative and hands-on sessions tailored to the learner's level and interests
  • Strong understanding of differentiated learning and trauma-informed approaches
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Confidence in teaching KS1 Maths and English

Hours - 10 per week- ideally split into 2 hours across 4 days
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
      • Experience of working with learners with SEN

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
