Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background in supporting children with autism? Are you looking for a rewarding, full-time role where your skills and dedication can have a real impact?

Academics is currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive two-form entry Primary School in Macclesfield. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with autism on a fixed-term basis from 1st September to 19th December.

This school offers a warm, collaborative environment with a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. You'll be working as part of a committed team that values your experience and supports you in delivering high-quality, individualised care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent, tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with autism, focusing on communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Implement and adapt strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively with learning
  • Promote independence while offering a calm, structured, and nurturing presence
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews

Role Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children with autism in a school or specialist setting
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to support and behaviour management
  • Strong ability to build trust and rapport with both pupils and staff
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
