Passionate about technical growing and ready to continue your career with one of the UK's largest ornamental growers?

Due to continued expansion, they're looking for an Assistant Technical Manager to join the team. As the business grows, there's real potential for internal promotion and career development.

You'll be based at their largest site (70 acres), where you'll take ownership of all things crop health - a brilliant opportunity to make the role your own.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you'll be supported by someone who's happy to guide and develop you. While they'll focus on the other sites, you'll lead the charge at their main site- giving you plenty of autonomy and responsibility.

While there are no direct reports, you'll work closely with a team of six growers, supporting and advising them on plant health and crop protection programmes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Implement and review crop protection, fungicide, and herbicide programmes for indoor and outdoor crops.

  • Monitor pest, disease, and weed pressure through regular crop walks
  • Support and train the growing team in crop walking and plant health monitoring
  • Manage the chemical store, order stock, and ensure compliance with storage and application regulations
  • Keep accurate records in line with audit and quality schemes
  • Lead biocontrol programmes and support trials (e.g. biopesticides, biostimulants)
  • Act as point of contact for technical queries and APHA inspections

About You

  • You have experience in crop protection and growing - this could be in ornamentals or edible crops.
Comfortable with crop walking and developing action plans and working in a hands-on role.
  • Strong knowledge of plant health, compliance, and chemical/biological applications
  • Ideally hold PA1 and PA6 - but training will be offered for the right person.
