Job Title: School Caretaker - Maesteg
Location: Primary School, Maesteg
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (Split Shifts)
Hours: 6:30am - 10:00am & 2:30pm - 5:30pm
We are currently seeking a reliable, proactive, and experienced School Caretaker to join a primary school in Bridgend. This is a key role within the school, supporting the day-to-day operation and ensuring the premises are safe, secure, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Opening and closing the school premises daily
General maintenance duties within the school building
Grounds maintenance and upkeep
Basic painting and decorating
Basic electrical maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs, resetting circuit breakers)
Reporting any health & safety concerns or larger maintenance issues
Supporting the leadership team with site-related tasks as needed
Please note: Cleaning is not part of this role - the school has a dedicated cleaning team.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a similar role (e.g. caretaker, facilities maintenance, site manager)
Good practical skills and a hands-on, problem-solving approach
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one).
