Pay and Reward Manager

Windsor and Maidenhead Council are seeking a Pay and Reward Manager to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive reward and employee benefits services. This role is pivotal in supporting the delivery of the council's People Strategy and Workforce Profile, ensuring the council is optimally positioned to attract and retain the workforce required to deliver its Corporate Plan.

  • Location: Maidenhead, SL6 1RF
  • Job Type: Full-time, hybrid work (2-3 days based in office)
  • Contract Duration: 12 months contract (covering maternity leave)
  • Hourly pay: £27.53 per hour via PAYE (approx. £53,120 per annum)

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Employee Wellbeing:
    • Lead efforts to enhance employee wellbeing through a holistic range of support services and initiatives.
    • Develop and deliver the council’s wellbeing strategy and staff wellbeing programme to improve workforce health and wellbeing.
  • Employee Reward and Retention:
    • Develop and implement competitive pay and reward structures to attract and retain high-calibre employees.
    • Implement employee benefits programmes that enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Conduct research, benchmarking, and modelling to support HR pay and reward policies, including candidate and employee satisfaction evaluations.
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the council’s pay reward and staff benefits provision, including job evaluation and employee benefits contracts.
  • Team Management:
    • Manage, inspire, and develop a team of 3 HR Officers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in HR management, specifically in reward and employee benefits.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of HR policies, compliance, and best practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing wellbeing and reward programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with HR metrics and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
