Housing Options Officer

Rate: 19.07 per hour (PAYE) / 28 per hour (Umbrella) per hour
Contract Type: Temporary
Location: Maidenhead

We are looking for a housing options officer to support the delivery of affordable housing within a local authority-based environment, using knowledge of viability assessments and working closely with legal teams. To provide effective housing advice, homelessness prevention, and statutory homelessness services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide housing advice and conduct outreach visits.
  • Assess homelessness applications under the Housing Act 1996.
  • Explore all housing options to prevent homelessness.
  • Investigate illegal eviction and harassment cases.
  • Respond to enquiries and participate in out-of-hours rota.
  • Work with internal and external partners to support housing solutions.
  • Promote tenant and landlord rights and deliver training.
  • Stay updated on housing legislation and best practices.

Experience:

  • Strong understanding of housing and homelessness legislation
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals and housing providers
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations professionally
  • Ability to travel across the borough
  • Enhanced DBS required
  • Driving licence desirable
