Our accountancy practice client is recruiting for a Tax Trainee to join the tax department with the role to start in September. This is a highly successful and growing accountancy firm that will offer the Tax Trainee the opportunity to qualify through the ACA/CTA route, via a full study package.

You will develop skills that will see you contributing to the tax department by undertaking duties that will assist with the smooth running of the department.

This is a fantastic opportunity that will offer a competitive salary (rising with experience) along with a full ACA/CTA study package. You will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of personal tax 'on the job’ whilst studying for the chartered qualification, in a supportive working environment.

As Tax Trainee, and as your skills develop, you will work towards the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop sufficient technical knowledge to undertake relevant area of work
  • Prepare and finalise accurate and timely tax return work ready for review
  • Liaise with other service streams and take responsibility for collation of personal tax information when the client is a multi-discipline service client
  • Use and understand legislation appropriately to aid in relevant area of work
  • Build good client relationship, predominately over the telephone and where appropriate face-to-face
  • Building a good rapport with the clients and provide general support in the provision of tax returns
  • Liaise with the client relationship manager and other members of client service team (where in place) to ensure synergy and cohesion in client delivery
  • Develop an awareness of the firm's risk management procedure and adheres to this and involve senior people, ensuring appropriate advice is sought to mitigate risk
  • Build an understanding of professional standards, ethics and risk management protocols

In time you will take responsibility for billing tax return fees, keeping accurate records, completing time sheets accurately and on a timely basis, monitoring your own time incurred and undertaking analysis as directed.
