Tax Senior – Private Client & Trust Tax?? Location: Maidstone (with occasional travel to Sheerness)?? Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (DOE)?? Working Pattern: Full-time preferred | Part-time considered | Hybrid: 1 day WFHAre you an experienced Tax Senior or private client tax specialist looking to join a respected accountancy practice in Kent?A long-established and highly regarded accountancy firm based in Maidstone is looking to appoint a skilled Tax Senior to support the ongoing growth of their Private Client and Trust Tax function. The firm offers a collaborative, friendly culture and excellent scope for long-term progression.This role would suit an ATT-qualified tax professional with strong hands-on experience in Inheritance Tax (IHT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and trust taxation who is seeking a stable, client-focused position with genuine responsibility.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, trusts and estates
  • Handle personal tax and trust tax compliance, including self-assessment returns
  • Provide proactive tax planning advice on IHT, CGT and succession planning
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and liaise confidently with HMRC and external advisers
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and knowledge-sharing
  • Attend the firm’s Sheerness office periodically to support client meetings
Candidate Requirements:
  • ATT qualified (or equivalent); CTA desirable but not essential
  • Proven experience in private client tax, trusts and HMRC correspondence
  • Strong technical understanding of capital taxes and estate planning strategies
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Comfortable working primarily from the Maidstone office, with flexibility to travel locally
