Microbiology Compliance Assistant Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end daily surveillance testing process, including scheduling, sample submission, and results review.

  • Work closely with suppliers and growers to implement customer microbiology policies and standards.

  • Coordinate microbiological compliance monitoring, trend results, and highlight any threshold breaches.

  • Investigate surveillance fails, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are documented.

  • Review grower-level risk assessments to support supplier management of food safety risks, including chemical and microbiological risks.

  • Collate microbiological compliance documents, including analyses of water, swabs, and raw materials.

  • Stay up-to-date with legislative, industry standards, and guidance, communicating updates to relevant teams.

  • Support delivery of the group lab management strategy, including data collation and reporting for surveillance governance.

Microbiology Compliance Assistant Key Requirements

  • Educated to degree level, ideally in food science, microbiology, biological sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Strong interest in microbiology and its application to fresh produce and food safety.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with an ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

  • Detail-oriented, deadline-focused, and proactive in identifying and solving problems.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across multiple stakeholders.
