A well-established manufacturing business is seeking a skilled Tooling Engineer to join their Tool Room team. This hands-on role involves routine and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs to injection moulding tooling and associated equipment to ensure maximum uptime and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and reactive repairs on injection mould tools
- Diagnose and resolve tooling faults efficiently to reduce downtime
- Use a variety of conventional machining techniques, including milling, turning, grinding, and spark erosion
- Manufacture and modify tools, jigs, and fixtures as needed for engineering support
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Maintain accurate records of tool maintenance and repairs
- Uphold high standards of health and safety within the workshop environment
- Liaise with the Tooling & Maintenance Manager and Team Leader regarding any issues or requirements
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar tooling or toolmaking role within an injection moulding environment
- Skilled in the use of conventional machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and spark eroders
- Strong understanding of mould tool maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Ability to read and work from detailed engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Desirable:
- Experience working within a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Formal apprenticeship or engineering qualifications in toolmaking or mechanical engineering
