Our client, a leader in the water industry, is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position based at the head office. The successful applicant will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment, predominantly within the South East region, including Kent, London, Essex, Sussex, and Hampshire.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission, and service wastewater treatment equipment such as pumps, blowers, valves, and filtration systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical components
  • Troubleshoot system faults and diagnose operational issues at customer sites
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and clients
  • Ensure systems are operating in compliance with safety and environmental standards
  • Prepare and submit detailed service reports and documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to optimise system performance
  • Respond to emergency service calls and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure tools and equipment are in good condition
  • Stay current with equipment manuals, manufacturer updates, and regulatory changes


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in field service, preferably in wastewater or water treatment systems
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites, sometimes on short notice
  • Valid driver's licence and clean driving record
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation and procedures
  • Prepared to take responsibility for self and others
  • Able to work on own initiative


Desirable:

  • Water industry or industrial background
  • Confined Space Training
  • First Aider
