Depot / Operations Manager - Logistics & Freight Forwarding
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
A well-established freight forwarding, logistics, and storage company in the Dover, Kent area is seeking a dynamic Depot / Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations and drive continued growth.
This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a background in logistics, and a hands-on approach to both operations and team management. You'll be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high service standards, and identifying new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management
- Lead and manage a small team effectively.
- Set and track individual performance targets.
- Mentor team members and support their daily tasks.
- Manage staff leave to ensure operational continuity.
- Confidently delegate responsibilities.
Depot Operations
- Oversee efficient daily depot operations.
- Ensure health and safety compliance.
- Manage pallet storage and distribution.
- Handle international freight forwarding and customs clearance.
- Provide regular financial forecasts and reports.
- Champion process improvement and tech adoption.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in logistics and freight forwarding.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of export/import customs procedures.
- Background in warehouse pallet storage and international logistics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Sales-oriented mindset with a focus on long-term growth.
- Adaptable and solution-focused.
