Assembly Fitter

Location: Maidstone

We are looking for a skilled Assembly Fitter to join our manufacturing team in Maidstone. You'll be responsible for assembling and fitting a wide range of fabricated parts, hydraulic systems, and electrical components to produce high-quality machinery and kits. The role focuses on ensuring all products meet exacting quality standards while maintaining safe and efficient working practices.

What you'll do

  • Depending on your section, your day-to-day tasks may include:
  • Fitting and assembling fabricated parts and sub-assemblies
  • Installing hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, including valves, pumps and motors
  • Pressure testing hydraulic systems
  • Laying and securing wiring looms, fault-finding and performing basic electrical checks
  • Cable-tying hoses neatly and accurately
  • Dismantling and repairing faulty assemblies and components
  • Using a range of tools (air tools, socket sets) and fitting fixings (nuts, bolts, hydraulic adapters)
  • Lifting and setting large or awkward components safely
  • Supporting engineering changes and development tasks
  • Assisting in training and sharing knowledge with colleagues

What we're looking for

  • Completed technical apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical assembly - training will be provided to expand knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of electrics, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Ability to read and understand technical instructions and build documents
  • Practical problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management and ability to work efficiently in a lean environment
  • Physically fit - able to stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, climb into chassis or work underneath assemblies (all within H&S guidelines)
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills
