About the Role
Hill McGlynn is working with a reputable regional main contractor seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team based out of the Maidstone office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated procurement professional to contribute to high-profile construction projects across the region, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing procurement of materials, plant, and subcontractor services for various construction projects.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Negotiating prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve best value.
- Ensuring procurement activities comply with company policies and health & safety standards.
- Supporting project teams in procurement planning and scheduling to meet project deadlines.
- Monitoring market trends and identifying new sources of supply.
- Assisting in cost control and budget management related to procurement activities.
- Tracking and managing purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in procurement within the construction industry, ideally with main contractor experience.
- M&E buying experience would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Relevant procurement or construction-related qualifications are desirable.
