M&E Managing Quantity Surveyor
Location: Maidstone (covering projects across Kent and London)

About the Role
Hill McGlynn is partnering with a reputable regional main contractor delivering a diverse range of projects across Kent and London. They are seeking an experienced M&E Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead and oversee all commercial aspects of M&E packages on multiple schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior professional to play a pivotal role in high-profile projects including residential, healthcare, care homes, retail, and fit-out developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the commercial management of M&E packages across multiple projects from initial procurement to final account.
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier relationships, including negotiations, procurement, and payments.
  • Overseeing cost control, valuations, and change management to maximize project profitability.
  • Supporting project teams with cost planning, risk mitigation, and value engineering.
  • Attending site visits and liaising with project managers, clients, and design teams to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Ensuring all M&E works comply with health and safety standards and contractual obligations.
  • Mentoring junior QS staff and supporting continuous improvement within the team.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience as an M&E Managing Quantity Surveyor, preferably with a main contractor background.
  • Proven success managing large, complex M&E packages across sectors like residential, healthcare, and retail.
  • Strong technical knowledge of M&E systems, procurement, and cost management.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
