SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) - Maidstone

Full-Time | January 2026 Start

Academics are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil in a welcoming school in the Maidstone area. This is a full-time position, starting January 2026, with the potential to continue long term for the right candidate.



The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

  • Supporting learning, engagement and emotional development in the classroom

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence

  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment



The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience working with children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs)

  • Is patient, caring and resilient

  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Is committed to helping children reach their full potential

  • Previous experience in a school or SEN setting is essential
