Electronics Assembly Technician

Location: Just outside of Chelmsford

Role Overview: Reed Engineering are currently working with a High Technology Electronics Assembly Company who are seeking an experienced Electronics Assembly Technician to join their team due to their busy orderbook and continued growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for reworks and modifications of both through-hole and surface mount assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Component Pre-forming: Prepare components for assembly.
  • Through-Hole Soldering: Use soldering irons for through-hole soldering.
  • Component Insertion (Manual): Place components manually.
  • Selective Soldering Machine: Program and operate the selective soldering machine.
  • Minor Mechanical Assembly: Assemble heatsinks and fix components to the board.
  • Modification Work: Perform necessary modifications.
  • Rework: Address any issues with existing assemblies.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Several years of experience in electronic manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
  • Familiarity with component recognition and polarity determination.
  • Proficiency with hand tools (soldering irons, cutters, magnifiers).
  • Consistent production of high-quality work with attention to detail.
