Prospero Teaching are looking for a dedicated professional to provide consistent, supportive, and engaging mentorship to a young person (aged 12) who has been disengaged from formal education. The mentor will help build the young person's confidence, foster a positive adult relationship, and encourage participation in activities aligned with their interests-particularly animal care and art.
As a Mentor, you will:
- Build a trusting and respectful relationship with the young person.
- Plan and participate in activities that align with their interests (e.g., visiting animal shelters, drawing sessions, nature walks).
- Encourage self-expression through creative and hands
About you:
- Experience working with children or young people, especially those with additional needs or who are disengaged from education.
- Passion for animal care and/or art.
- Strong communication and empathy skills.
- Ability to commit to regular weekly sessions.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
- Background in Youth Work, UK schools, Mentoring or other related roles.
- Experience of working with learners with SEN
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
