We are the National Research Facility for lab-based X-ray computed tomography. We bring together world-leading capability in lab-based XCT from multiple universities.

As the UK's national research facility, we provide an unparalleled combination of 3D imaging facilities and data analysis, research knowledge and technical experience to support users that have never worked with X-ray scanning before and to help advanced users conduct exciting new experiments. Together, our five partners provide a unique and diverse shared capability to the UK. The National Research Facility provides: Access to state-of-the-art X-ray instruments; technical support for new and existing users; the expertise to design complex experiments; and the infrastructure and resources to analyse 3D and 4D data.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Events and Communications Co-ordinator based at The University, will play a pivotal role in the planning, co-ordination and delivery of a comprehensive programme of National Research Facility events. They will also be responsible for implementing promotional strategies, developing effective communication plans and creating content in line with the National Research Facility's strategic objectives. They will highlight the fantastic outputs produced by the National Research Facility and collaborators and report on relevant metrics. The post holder will be supported by the Project Manager, the National Research Facility hub team and additional guidance will be provided by the Comms team. The post holder will be expected to manage their time and prioritise tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrating a high level of self-motivation.

About you:

  • Degree and/or professional qualification in a related field, or relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading the planning, co-ordination and successful delivery of a wide range of events from large scale international conferences to smaller, specialized training courses with a high level of detail and professionalism.
  • Proven analytical and IT skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Significant experience working in a customer focused environment and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written)
  • Experience of communications, marketing, public relations and/or journalism related to scientific research.
