The businessWe are delighted to be supporting an international business based in Manchester in the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant.  With over 100years of experience, operating in 50+countries and worldwide sites the business is on a growth trajectory, looking for an experienced assistant accountant to join a dynamic finance team. RoleThis role is an excellent opportunity for a 1st time mover from practice, ideally with an audit background, who is looking to gain commercial experience within a fast-paced industry environment.You will work closely with the Finance Manager, Head of Finance and Finance Director, ensuring accurate and timely financial data recording, reconciliation, and continuous improvement of financial processes.Duties include:
  • Assist with the daily recording of financial transactions in the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
  • Support the preparation and review of account reconciliations, identifying and investigating discrepancies.
  • Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Help prepare draft financial statements and internal reports under supervision.
  • Support the preparation of audit packs and liaise with external auditors
  • Maintain and update financial records and supporting documentation for audit readiness
Person
  • Part-qualified accountant ( ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  • Prior experience in accounting /finance role
  • Understanding of basic accounting and principles and financial reporting  
  • Experience using ERP systems and proficiency in Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a commercial finance role
