Position: Quality Engineer
Reports to: Quality Manager
Location: Walkden
Key Responsibilities & Achievements

Lead investigation and resolution of non-conforming aerospace components using 8D, RCA, and CAPA methodologies.

Support production through process capability (Cp/Cpk) and SPC analysis, improving yield and reducing defects.

Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.

Support NPI, engineering change, and source change activities, ensuring compliance with AS9102 FAI and customer requirements.

Prepare and maintain PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Inspection Plans in accordance with AS9100 and APQP standards.

Conduct internal and supplier audits (AS9100, NADCAP), ensuring regulatory and customer compliance.

Manage supplier quality performance, SCARs, and customer complaint resolution.

Develop and deliver quality training to production teams, promoting a culture of precision and accountability.

Support third-party and customer audits with zero major findings.

Report on departmental KPIs including defect rates, audit closure, and customer PPM.
Aerospace Specialisms
-
In-depth knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 9001, and AS13000 standards.

Experience with special processes: heat treatment, surface finishing, plating, NDT (penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic), and composites.

Skilled in FAIR preparation (AS9102 Rev. C), GD&T interpretation, and aerospace drawing analysis.

Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, digital QMS, CMM, and optical inspection tools.

Short-Term: Attain Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, implement digital QMS for real-time traceability, and lead SPC/MSA improvements.

Medium-Term: Advance to Senior Quality Engineer; achieve NADCAP Lead Auditor status; lead supplier Zero Defect initiatives.

Long-Term: Progress to Quality or Operational Excellence Manager, driving enterprise-level AS9100 and digital quality transformation across aerospace programs.
