Design Manager

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to lead and manage the design delivery of projects within the United Utilities AMP 8 framework, with a particular focus on civils disciplines. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full design lifecycle, ensuring that design solutions are cost-effective, buildable, and compliant with industry standards and regulations. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration skills to manage multidisciplinary design teams, supply chain partners, and stakeholders effectively. The Design Manager will ensure design quality, control design changes, and maintain compliance with CDM regulations and BIM standards. Experience working within the AMP 8 framework and civils projects in the water sector is essential. The role demands a proactive approach to delivering sustainable, low carbon, and innovative design solutions that meet client affordability and programme requirements.

Skills:
  • Extensive experience in design management within the AMP 8 framework
  • Proven expertise in civils design and delivery
  • Strong knowledge of design procurement, management, and control
  • Understanding and application of CDM (2015) Regulations
  • Ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams and supply chain collaboration
  • Experience in quality assurance and BIM implementation to ISO 19650 standards
  • Commercial and contractual awareness, including NEC4 contracts
  • Programme preparation and management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Capability to deliver sustainable, low carbon, and buildable design solutions
