What you will be doing
An opportunity has come up for a Mechanical Site Services/Installation Technician to join the team of a leading contractor in the water/wastewater sector. You will be responsible for the efficient installation of mechanical systems and equipment according to supplied designs, in a safe, timely and high-quality manner. This role will be carried out both in the workshop/factory and on customer water-&-wastewater treatment sites (predominantly in Scotland).
Key Responsibilities
Install, manufacture or modify mechanical and process equipment to company standards.
Undertake fault-finding tasks and deliver responsive, effective rectification.
Liaise and communicate effectively between site and office teams, providing clear feedback.
Record site data in on-site reporting forms and capture photographic evidence as required.
Supervise or coordinate contractors on site to ensure installations are completed to the company's reputation for quality.
Act as a professional on-site representative, ensuring work is carried out safely and promoting strong customer relations.
Assist in planning site works and material logistics to optimise installation efficiency.
When needed, prepare site Work Method Statements (RAMS) and ensure all required Health & Safety documentation is in place.
Maintain alignment with the company's culture and values.
Keep a site diary detailing activities and key events; share with your work planner/manager as required.
Where required, conduct testing and record results accurately on relevant documentation.
Maintain site, equipment, vehicles, tools and test apparatus in clean, safe and orderly condition; ensure cabling and apparatus do not present hazards and restrict access to authorised/competent personnel.
Assume additional responsibilities as required and collaborate with colleagues to support overall company performance.
Experience and Qualifications
Completed apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical or electrical discipline.
Minimum of ~3 years' hands-on mechanical installation experience, including site-based work in a customer-facing environment.
Experience or understanding of the water industry.
Ability to interpret design drawings and specifications to undertake installations to a high standard.
Awareness of Health & Safety requirements relevant to the role.
Experience with PVC-U pipefitting.
Possession of a CSCS card (site certification).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Level 2 & 3 qualification (e.g., City & Guilds or NVQ) in a relevant mechanical or electrical discipline.
