German Accounts Payable Specialist

Manchester, (Hybrid – 1 day a Month in the office)

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is available for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing transactional finance team. This role is crucial in supporting the financial operations of the business by ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments and maintaining strong vendor relationships.

You’ll be responsible for handling key elements of the accounts payable function, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and supporting internal and external stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor accounts payable email inbox and ticketing systems
  • Maintain the vendor master database
  • Process purchase order and non-purchase order invoices
  • Validate and process purchase card statements
  • Post invoices and credit notes, ensuring accurate accounting coding
  • Perform reconciliations, pre-disbursement controls, and payment processing
  • Monitor direct debits and resolve vendor statement discrepancies
  • Prepare monthly supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Proactively manage supplier accounts and monitor aged balances
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice and payment queries
  • Release payment files and perform manual/ad hoc payments as required
  • Liaise with finance and AP teams to provide regular updates
  • Support with ad-hoc finance tasks as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in a similar Accounts Payable role (shared services experience a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Clear and adaptable communication skills across all levels
