Quality Engineer
Permanent – Days – Irlam – Full-time – Up to £45,000 + Excellent Benefits
An industry-leading manufacturer, renowned for delivering precision-engineered solutions across global markets, is looking to expand its team with the addition of a Quality Engineer at its Manchester facility. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring production quality, driving improvements, and supporting a culture of excellence. You’ll work across the full production value stream, applying core quality tools and problem-solving techniques to ensure compliance, minimise scrap, and support right-first-time performance.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage daily quality tasks across the designated production value stream.
· Drive APQP processes and lead the development of PFMEAs and Control Plans in collaboration with Process Engineering.
· Implement and maintain robust quality controls using methodologies such as SPC and data-driven analysis.
· Monitor production data to identify improvement opportunities and support OEE enhancements.
· Lead responses to customer concerns, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions using tools like 8D, PPS, and DMAIC.
· Address and resolve supplier quality issues within the supported value stream.
· Support MRB processes and scrap reduction initiatives.
· Contribute to new product and process introduction from a quality perspective.
· Assist in maintaining and improving the Business Management System and quality documentation.
· Participate in internal and external audits and support audit readiness.
· Track and report on quality KPIs and contribute to annual improvement planning.
· Stay current with industry standards and advancements in quality tools and best practices.
The Person:
· Strong background in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment governed by AS9100 Rev D or ISO 9001.
· Hands-on experience with quality systems and methodologies including APQP, PPAP, FAIR, ISIR, SPC, Control Plans, and PSW.
· Skilled in analysing process data and implementing improvement initiatives.
· Proficient in reading engineering drawings, including understanding of GD&T.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage cross-functional teams.
· Able to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Analytical mindset and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable:
· Trained ISO9001 or AS9100 auditor.
· Experience using CMM technology.
· Familiarity with Lean tools such as SMED, Jidoka, 5S, and Single Piece Flow.
· Project management experience using tools like Gantt charts and project charters.
