Job Description:
Were looking for a motivated and sector-savvy Business Advisor to join our Workforce Development team, specialising in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering. In this role, youll work with a wide range of employers across Greater Manchester to support skills development, address workforce challenges, and help businesses create resilient, inclusive, and future-ready talent strategies. From diagnostic assessments to brokering training solutions, youll play a key part in strengthening the regions industrial base through people-focused support.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusted relationships with manufacturing and engineering business leaders to understand their workforce priorities.
  • Carry out organisational diagnostics to assess capability, identify skill gaps, and explore growth potential.
  • Guide businesses through workforce planning processes, offering tailored advice to support recruitment, retention, and upskilling.
  • Connect employers with suitable training providers, funding opportunities, and specialist programmes.
  • Collaborate with sector development leads to align your work with broader industry needs and policy goals.
  • Encourage inclusive employment practices and support the development of locally based talent pipelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a visible representative at networking events, workshops, and industry forums.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in organisational development, workforce planning, or a similar advisory role.
  • A strong understanding of the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering sector, its workforce trends, and operational challenges.
  • Ability to assess business needs and deliver practical, business-led workforce development solutions.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experienced in collaborating with training providers, colleges, or other skills organisations.
  • Comfortable working to targets and maintaining service quality across a client portfolio.
  • CIPD-qualified or holding a relevant degree, or equivalent sector experience.
  • Proficient with CRM systems and reporting tools, with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for supporting Greater Manchesters industrial growth through effective skills development.
