Highways/Drainage Designer (Contractor)
Location: Leeds/Manchester (Hybrid - Ideally 3 days/week in office)

About the Role:
We are looking to appoint an experienced Highways/Drainage Designer to support a range of local highway improvement schemes. The successful candidate will take a lead technical role within the team, overseeing the design work of others while managing their own workload.
The work will primarily involve supporting non-highways development projects with local road and drainage design, working with a DMB (Design and Build) contract under a Local Authority (LA) client.
Key Responsibilities:
路Lead on the design of local and regional highways improvement projects.
路Undertake design reviews and provide technical oversight of other designers' work.
路Prepare and check drawings and documentation to appropriate standards.
路Liaise with stakeholders and collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
路Support highway drainage design tasks where required.
路Ensure all work complies with relevant technical, safety, and legal standards.
Essential Skills & Experience:
路Significant experience in local and regional highway design - not strategic highways.
路Proficient in Civil 3D and MicroDrainage.
路Proven ability to check and sign off on others' design work.
路Strong understanding of UK design standards and highway design best practices.
路Able to manage own workload efficiently while mentoring others.
Desirable:
路Based in Yorkshire or Manchester regions.
路Previous experience working under a DMB contract with a Local Authority.
路Chartership is not required for this role.
Working Arrangement:
路Hybrid role - ideally 3 days/week in the Leeds or Manchester office.
路Team includes an existing contractor based in Telford who attends monthly in-person.
路Flexibility available based on individual circumstances.
