A multi-billion pound civils contractor delivering a landmark highways project in the UK is seeking a proactive and skilled Freelance Site Engineer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a significant infrastructure scheme and further your career.

About the Project:

You will be working on a major highways upgrade, involving substantial earthworks, complex structures, and significant utility diversions. This is a challenging and rewarding project offering exposure to a wide range of engineering activities.

About the Role:

As a Freelance Site Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting out works accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensuring works are constructed according to drawings and specifications.
  • Quality control and assurance, including undertaking inspections and raising NCRs as required.
  • Liaising with the site team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including daily diaries and progress reports.
  • Assisting with the resolution of technical queries.
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering projects, ideally highways.
  • Strong understanding of earthworks, structures, and utility diversions.
  • Proficiency in setting out using surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant CSCS card.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
