Our Client are a team of Building Surveyors, Retrofit Consultants and Project Managers with more than 20 years expertise, experience and accreditations in Surveying, Building Safety and Domestic Retrofit. Our purpose is to create a safe and sustainable environment for everyone.

Job Purpose: -

Following a period of sustained growth over the last 5 years, we require a Head of Business Development to drive sales and marketing activity in line with our key business objectives. The purpose of the role is to develop and oversee our commercial strategy, working with the Directors to prioritise and execute projects to facilitate growth.

We want to hear from candidates with a range of experience we value potential as well as experience. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, outgoing and have strong branding, marketing, sales and customer relationship management qualities.

Key Responsibilities: -

  • Work with our Directors to develop our existing commercial strategy to enable us to exceed our growth targets
  • To lead the business development team to increase leads, lead conversion generation and effective pipeline management to achieve significant income growth across our product portfolio.
  • To drive income growth taking advantage of market, industry and economic opportunities in line with set annual targets, budgets and KPIs.
  • Drive innovation and thought leadership by providing research and insights. Play an active role in delivering the business development strategy such as chairing round table discussions, setting up sector interest groups and leveraging research and external affairs outputs.
  • Act as an advocate you willbe visible externally with regular presentations and speaking engagements. Be comfortable to network and build relationships with prospects and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for creating social media strategy/campaigns. Managing and developing the companys Social Media platforms and supporting the team to create content to position us as a thought leader within our target industries e.g. blogs, press releases and literature.
  • Researching and securing new business tenders, alongside frameworks, Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS) and accreditations.
  • Responsible for organising and coordinating our business and social events.
  • Being a brand ambassador for the business and taking the lead on building our corporate brand.
  • Work with the Directors, team members and other departments to provide overall strategic direction for business development activity, including sector penetration. Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders who can amplify business development activity.
  • Responsible for managing relationships with internal team members, external partners and key stakeholders
  • Coach and performance manage team members to drive income growth. Ensure an effective sales process is in place and team members generate and progress leads effectively.
  • Develop market and sector knowledge and an understanding of our core client sector needs.
  • Be a part of wider senior management team, attending monthly department heads meeting, inputting into organisational strategy, being involved in project teams and acting as an internal consultant. Input into business strategy and annual business planning process.
  • Work with other departments to ensure an effective sales plan is in place when new products and services are launched.
  • Work with marketing, other departments, team members and the Directors to ensure the value proposition for prospect organisations is clearly documented and articulated.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: -

A degree in Marketing, Business, Finance or other relevant topic(s)

MBA or business-related qualification

Sales management qualification

Social Housing experience

Surveying and Retrofit experience

Capabilities in building a brand

Able to demonstrate strong communication and networking skills

Ability to work as part of cross-functional teams towards a joint goal

Strong collaborator with both internal teams and external partners

Comfortable creating and proofreading copy, with a keen eye for detail

A proactive nature in identifying new marketing / new business opportunities

Sales and business development experience in terms of pipeline management

Proven track record of delivering income growth in a business development role

Understanding of the sales process

Understanding and network within sectors

Excellent written English

Microsoft Office, including mastery with Microsoft Excel

Excellent public speaking and presentation skills

Excellent questioning, listening and communication skills

Effective time management and prioritisation

Leadership and management experience

Relationship building experience
