Aspired talent are looking for an CNC Programmer (Turner) for our client in Manchester.
Hours are 8am till 430pm Monday to Thursday and 730am till 3pm Friday.
As a CNC Machinist, you have responsibility of programming, setting and operating CNC lathes in the Machine Shop Department
Responsibilities
• Plans machining by studying work orders, engineering drawings, materials, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
• Programs machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs
• Sets-up machines by installing and adjusting chucks, collet chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and bar feeders etc.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to company production, quality standards and procedures.
• Maintains specifications by observing machining operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to health and safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; speaking to line manager to call for repairs.
• Maintains continuity of jobs in department by properly documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs on job cards, timesheets and/or SAP systems
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs and/or timesheets.
• Updates job knowledge by actively participating in on-the-job training opportunities; familiarizing yourself with company policies, processes and procedures and, making use of the Standard Operating Procedures available
• Accomplishment toward organisations goals by accepting ownership for undertaking new and different requests; exploring opportunities to continually improve on existing processes to reduce cost and increase efficiency.
• To carry out any additional work as reasonably requested by your line manager.
Job Skill Set
• Must be able to read, understand and edit ISO programs for turning
• Ability to program ISO controls a distinct advantage
• Knowledge of programming and setting live tooling and sub spindles an advantage
• Able to demonstrate sound technical engineering knowledge such as reading and interpreting engineering drawings and G,D & T features, selecting best tooling and inserts to produce required features etc
• Experienced Problem Solver

Experience
• Time served apprenticeship or minimum 3 years’ experience
• Knowledge of working with PTFE a distinct advantage
• CMM experience would be an advantage

• HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
