Regional Senior Construction Manager - Substations

As part of the National Grid framework covering substations and overhead lines across the North West and North Wales regions, the Construction Manager will oversee and deliver new substation build projects. You will have a site-based background, having worked on new build substations or major refurbishment works of 400kV substations.

Manchester - Hybrid (2 days at home/3 days on sites)

Role Description

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a Tier 1 contractor who has recently been awarded a 10-year framework with National Grid as part of the Great Grid Upgrade. This role provides construction support to site teams regarding the buildability of substations across North West and North Wales.

Reporting to the Operations Director, your role is to support the Project Managers with guidance and technical construction site support for new substation builds. The Construction Manager will have hands-on experience. In effect, you are the SME (Subject Matter Expert) on the building of a substation. Working with the Project team, taking the design from the consultancy through to the project build and hand-back phase.

With the projects being a mix of New Build Substations and Refurbishment works, the background for this role will need someone with a strong background in Construction. Looking at someone who works for a Tier 1 contractor and has delivered large projects within the T&D.

This role is a site-based role working with the client on-site across England, 3 days a week. Being around your team and client is key due to the different elements of this position. This requires a 5-year working history, ideally based in the UK, to ensure a smooth process.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in end-to-end construction of new build substations or refurbishments of large 400kV substations.
  • Experience working in high voltage environments from 132kV to 400kV
  • Hands-on site experience
  • Strong Understanding of National Grid standards TP317 to TP144
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods and best practices in delivering complex substation projects.
  • Full driving licence
