Reeson Education is recruiting a compassionate, engaging, and resilient Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a welcoming mainstream primary school in the M11 area of Manchester. This Teaching Assistant role is to start as soon as possible and offers full-time, long-term stability with the potential to become a permanent role.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with a pupil who has SEMH needs, who can become overwhelmed and overstimulated, and who needs consistency, understanding, and patience. Your role as a Teaching Assistant will be to support this pupil in the classroom and beyond including during fun activities, games, and sports designed to promote friendships, positive engagement, and light-hearted moments of joy and learning.
This Teaching Assistant position is ideal for someone who builds strong rapport, remains calm under pressure, and thrives on helping children navigate emotional and behavioural challenges with empathy and consistency.
Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:
- Work 1:1 with a KS2 pupil who requires emotional and behavioural support
- Support the child in class and during social, outdoor, and enrichment activities
- Help de-escalate and re-engage when needed using positive behaviour strategies
- Encourage friendships and inclusion through games and group interaction
- Provide a stable, positive presence in the child's school day
- Communicate closely with teachers and support staff to implement tailored strategies
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
- Be a patient, confident, and nurturing Teaching Assistant with SEMH experience
- Be skilled at recognising triggers and supporting emotional regulation
- Be a positive role model and consistent, trusted adult in the child's life
- Be motivated to help children succeed both emotionally and academically
- Be proactive, creative, and genuinely passionate about pupil wellbeing
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
- Recent references covering the past 2-3 years
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, ADHD, or behavioural needs (formal or informal)
