Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Nuclear
Location: Hybrid (Manchester, occasional site/client visits)

We’re looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of challenging projects across the Nuclear Energy sector. You’ll work on everything from concept studies to detailed design, producing high-quality electrical engineering deliverables while guiding and mentoring junior engineers.
What you’ll do
Lead electrical design packages – analysis, calculations, reports, specifications.
Provide technical leadership and client-facing support.
Mentor and develop less experienced engineers.
Ensure compliance with nuclear standards, UK legislation, and safety requirements.
Prepare and review equipment specs, technical bids, and installation scopes.
Undertake power system studies, protection grading, earthing, and commissioning support.
What we’re looking for
Significant nuclear sector electrical engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of design/installation practices on nuclear facilities.
Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
Chartered/Inc. Engineer (or working towards).
Knowledge of CE marking, ATEX, PED, LVD, Machinery Directive, EMC.
Eligible for Security Clearance (SC)
Desirable: multi-discipline project experience, client-facing leadership, 18th Edition Wiring Regs.
