Our client is a well-established building services design consultancy delivering high-quality, innovative projects across commercial, residential, and mixed-use sectors. They are looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead and develop their electrical design team and oversee complex projects from concept to completion.

Role Overview:

As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will take ownership of technical leadership, design excellence, and client engagement, ensuring electrical engineering solutions meet project requirements, budgets, and timelines. You will mentor and guide junior and senior engineers, contribute to business development, and uphold the highest standards of design and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design on a range of high-profile projects
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers
  • Oversee compliance with regulations, standards, and best practice
  • Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Drive innovative and cost-effective design solutions
  • Support business development initiatives, including proposals and client presentations
  • Ensure quality assurance and technical accuracy across all electrical designs

Requirements:

  • Chartered or highly experienced Electrical Engineer within building services
  • Proven experience leading electrical design on complex commercial or mixed-use projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of power, lighting, distribution, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team
  • Experience with BIM and relevant design software
