We're proud to be working with a leading environmental consultancy seeking a highly experienced Principal Air Quality Consultant to help drive the growth and success of their UK air quality team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished and commercially minded professional to step into a strategic leadership role, combining technical excellence, business development, and team mentorship within a forward-thinking, collaborative organisation.



The Role

As a Principal Air Quality Consultant, you will oversee and deliver complex air quality and dispersion modelling projects across the UK. You'll play a key part in guiding project strategy, developing client relationships, and driving business growth. Working closely with clients, regulators, and planning authorities, you'll deliver high-quality, impactful solutions while supporting and mentoring a growing team of consultants.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of major air quality and dispersion modelling projects

  • Provide expert technical input to EIAs and environmental assessments

  • Build, maintain, and expand strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities

  • Develop high-quality proposals, bids, and commercial strategies

  • Mentor and support junior consultants within the expanding air quality team

  • Liaise effectively with regulators, planning authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams



About You

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in air quality consultancy or a related regulatory role

  • Strong knowledge of ADMS, AERMOD, and IAQM/EPUK guidance

  • Proven ability in business development and client management

  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing teams

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geography, or a related discipline

  • Chartered status (CEnv / IAQM) desirable

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and commercial awareness
