Head of Finance role for SME in Manchester - Growing business supporting the MD and SLT

I am pleased to be supporting a thriving SME who are looking to hire a Head of Finance to join their business and play a key role in supporting with their growth. They are a market leading business who support blue chip companies businesses across multiple sectors. As part of the continued growth the business have secured new site in Manchester which has doubled their office and warehouse space.
Description
This Head of Finance role will oversee all financial aspects of the group, including financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. The role will lead the finance function, ensuring efficient collaboration with the business, optimising financial operations and enhancing the accuracy and timeliness of financial data. The successful candidate will play a key role in strategic financial planning, reporting, and supporting the MD and senior leadership team in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team delivering accurate, timely financial information and insight
- Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Ensure robust financial controls, statutory compliance, and effective risk management frameworks
- Manage financial systems and drive continuous improvement in processes and efficiencies
- Deliver high-quality financial reports and business partnering to support strategic decision-making
- Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts, audit processes, tax compliance (including VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax), and Payroll
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including auditors and regulators
- Be the lead on for the HR and IT/Tech function within the business
Profile
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Significant experience in leading a finance function, with at least 5-10 years in a senior finance role
- Experience of working for a manufacturing business would be beneficial
- Strong background in partnering with SLT and non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience in a broad role in an SME that has overseen HR and IT/Tech function
- Deep understanding of financial management, including financial reporting, accounting systems, and tax regulations.
- Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and and develop a teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior management and teams across the business
- Strong proficiency in financial systems (ERP and MS Excel) and process automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
