Interim Assistant Director of Finance required to join an evolving Local Authority at an exciting period for a 6-to-9-month assignment. As the Interim Assistant Director of Finance you will work closely with the Director of finance to ensure the key deliverables of the organisation are met:

Key responsibilities of the Interim Assistant Director of Finance:

  • It is essential that you have a track record of delivering at this level within a Local Authority setting
  • Lead budget setting, monitoring, and closure processes for the Combined Authority's General Budgets and provide oversight of and coordination of financial processes
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership, elected members, and external stakeholders. Ensure robust year-end accounting processes and oversee the preparation, publication, and audit of annual financial statements
  • Liaise with internal audit, and external regulators to ensure transparency and accountability

Essential experience of the Interim Assistant Director of Finance:

  • CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant
  • Local Authority experience (Essential)
  • Proven experience in public sector finance leadership
