Manchester City Council are looking for two Neighbourhood Care Operatives to join our Grounds Maintenance team. This role involves maintaining parks, open spaces, and grass verges across the city. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy outdoor work and are committed to improving the local environment.
Day-to-day of the role:- Perform strimming and cutting back of grass and shrubbery.
- Operate mowing equipment, including ride-on mowers.
- Empty litter bins and conduct litter picking across various locations.
- Ensure the security of facilities, materials, and other resources.
- Work collaboratively with other neighbourhood-focused services to maintain high standards and provide a quality environment for all Manchester residents.
- Deal efficiently and courteously with enquiries from the public, providing effective and accurate information and advice on a range of council services, escalating queries where appropriate.
- Use a range of equipment to maintain the local environment effectively and efficiently.
- Undertake all duties in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with health and safety requirements, legislation, and City Council policies.
- Some experience in Grounds Maintenance or a similar operational role is advantageous, although not essential.
- Must be physically fit and healthy, as the role requires lifting heavy items and working outdoors all day.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to customer service, community improvement, and self-development.
- Ability to use a range of equipment safely and competently.
