Process Safety / HSE Manager

Location: Manchester Area

Type: Permanent

SRG are currently recruiting for a Process Safety / Health and Safety Manager for a successful and growing manufacturing client based in the Manchester area.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Process Safety Leadership

  • Develop and own the Process Safety Management System (PSMS) aligned with UK law and standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Lead HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA studies and define/verify Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF/SIL)
  • Drive compliance with DSEAR and implement robust safety measures.

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Ensure all site activities are conducted safely, maintaining zero TIR
  • Own site risk assessments, SOPs, and integrate with training/competence matrices
  • Govern Permit-to-Work systems and ensure effective LOTO
  • Lead accident investigations using root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Manage contractor control and CDM 2015 duties for projects.

Engineering Management

  • Oversee the engineering team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement
  • Ensure preventative maintenance and mandatory checks for equipment reliability
  • Utilise CMMS for planned maintenance and KPI reporting.

About you:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or NVQ Level 6) and IOSH/BOHS membership (GradIOSH/CMIOSH)
  • Chartered status or working towards it & Engineering degree (desirable)
  • Proven leadership in HSE and process safety within a regulated or high-hazard environment
  • Strong knowledge of DSEAR, process safety, and engineering best practices
  • Competence in HAZOP/LOPA, ATEX zoning, and permit-to-work systems
  • Incident investigation expertise and evidence of delivering risk-reducing improvements.
