Senior Sustainability Consultant

Penguin Recruitment are proud to be representing a leading multi-disciplinary design practice celebrated for its expertise in delivering innovative, environmentally responsible solutions across the built environment. They are looking to hire a knowledgeable and motivated Senior Sustainability Consultant to play a key role within their expanding specialist team!

Requirements for applicants:

  • A formal qualification in sustainability, environmental management or a built-environment discipline
  • Significant relevant experience in sustainability consultancy
  • Strong track record of delivering environmental assessments including BREEAM, LEED, Ska and/or WELL
  • In-depth understanding of environmental policy, sustainability legislation and best practice
  • Experience leading or managing sustainability workstreams within design teams
  • Proficiency with life cycle analysis tools such as OneClick LCA
  • Experience delivering net zero carbon, circularity and embodied carbon assessments
  • Strong technical writing abilities, including complex reports and planning documentation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Duties and responsibilities:

You will have the opportunity to lead on a broad portfolio of high-profile projects across workplace, healthcare, education, cultural, heritage, leisure and residential sectors. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of sustainability strategies and frameworks
  • Overseeing net zero carbon assessments (operational and embodied)
  • Managing lifecycle and circularity assessments
  • Leading environmental and wellbeing assessments including BREEAM, LEED, Ska and WELL
  • Guiding planning documentation such as Sustainability and Energy Statements
  • Supporting NABERS, post-occupancy evaluation and building optimisation
  • Providing ESG-related consultancy
  • Advising design teams to influence proposals and champion low-impact, healthy, future-ready solutions
  • Supporting business development, thought leadership and internal upskilling initiatives
  • Contributing to the company's sustainability strategy and internal environmental management
