Manchester City Council are looking for a Storekeeper to join the Highways Team. This role is ideal for individuals with supply chain management experience, looking to contribute to the maintenance of a safe, sustainable, and well-maintained highway network that benefits the residents, visitors, and businesses within the authority.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Contribute to the provision of a stores function which supports the delivery of the service.
  • Work collaboratively with other service areas, partner agencies, subcontractors, and external parties to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective service.
  • Responsible for the allocation of goods and services and maintaining stock balances necessary to support the delivery of the service.
  • Update inventory control systems using stock control principles.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the external depot areas utilised in the delivery of the service.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of goods and services necessary for the provision of the service, using a fork lift truck/telehandler.
  • Deal effectively with requests for service within designated timescales and maintain accurate records.
  • Work with other Council departments, partner agencies, subcontractors, and external parties, to deliver frontline services in line with Council strategy.
  • Ensure the maintenance and security of all plant, transport, and equipment, including the completion of daily maintenance and safety checks and the production and submission of records, all in accordance with set procedures.
  • Operate all plant, transport, and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in supply chain management or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and stock management.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using inventory control systems.
  • Forklift truck/telehandler operation skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Working Hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am - 15.30pm
