About the Role:

We are seeking a commercially focused and confident Principal Planning Engineer with a proven track record in pre and post contract planning. The successful planner will manage projects through the development cycle to delivery during the construction phase, providing analysis and accurate forecasting of all project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Principal Planning Engineer, you will lead the planning team under the direction of the Project Controls Manager, fostering strong relationships with clients and colleagues. As a planner here you will control, monitor, analyse, and report on schedule-related aspects for designated projects, ensuring all changes to the baseline are managed appropriately. Your role includes continually monitoring project risk and change status, liaising with team members and contractors regarding progress and forecasting, and providing 'what-if' analysis as needed. You will identify schedule variances, propose alternatives to the Project Manager, and prepare reports to meet specific project needs. Additionally, you will support recruitment efforts for the planning team as new contracts are issued.

Essential Qualifications:

The successful Planner must understand the inter-relationship between time, cost, and commercial aspects of the project life cycle, with extensive experience across the whole project life cycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation/commissioning, and handover processes. You should have experience in developing and maintaining project planning procedures and producing schedule reports. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in interpreting Earned Value Analysis, and excellent MS Office skills are essential.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in highly regulated work environments and membership of a professional institution such as AcostE or APM are desirable.
