Talent Flow Partnersis proud to be working with a well-regarded law firm as we recruit for a passionate and skilledChild Care Solicitorto join their growing team in either Manchester or Blackburn. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed solicitor who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families.

The Role

As a Child Care Solicitor, you will:

  • Independently manage a varied caseload of child care matters.

  • Provide expert legal advice to clients and team members.

  • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues, including solicitors, trainees, and paralegals.

  • Play a key role in developing the department and generating new business.

  • Represent clients (parents, grandparents, family members, and children directly or via CAFCASS) in a range of complex public law proceedings.

  • Undertake your own advocacy at court and attend conferences.

  • Deliver training within the team and support internal knowledge growth.

Caseload Includes:

  • Care Orders, Interim Care Orders, Supervision Orders

  • Emergency Protection Orders, Police Protection Orders

  • Special Guardianship, Placement, and Adoption Orders (including International)

  • Pre-proceedings meetings and child protection conferences

  • Allegations of injury, abuse, or neglect

  • Child Arrangement, Prohibited Steps, and Specific Issue Orders

  • Domestic abuse and violence-related matters

  • All Legal Aid and CCMS procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Solicitorwith 1-10 years PQE in Child Care Law (more experienced candidates also encouraged to apply)

  • Children Panel Accreditation(Law Society) isessential

  • Working knowledge of child care best practices and procedures

  • Confident in managing your own files with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with vulnerable clients compassionately

  • Business development and networking ability

  • Own advocacy experience preferred but not essential

  • A Guardian following or network in the region is a bonus

Skills & Attributes

  • High attention to detail with the ability to process large volumes of legal information

  • Excellent drafting skills (e.g. witness statements, legal documents)

  • Effective time management and ability to work under pressure

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems

  • Strong team player with mentoring experience preferred

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and policy changes
