The Role

We are seeking a strategic and business-minded Commercial Counsel to join our dynamic legal team on a part-time consultancy basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in advising the business on a broad spectrum of commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, draft, and manage commercial contracts across multiple service areas
  • Provide legal advice to departments, including Operations, Finance, HR, and Development
  • Act as Legal Business Partner to divisional leadership, aligning legal support with business needs
  • Manage external legal firms in relation to property, lease, service level, and regulatory matters
  • Offer guidance on data protection, regulatory compliance, and court of protection issues
  • Support the resolution of disputes and litigation in collaboration with external counsel
  • Maintain and update legal and compliance policies across the group
  • Support procurement teams by reviewing and negotiating supplier agreements
  • Deliver legal training and promote knowledge sharing within the organisation

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister who is confident, proactive, and solution-focused. You’ll bring extensive experience in commercial contract law and be comfortable managing a varied caseload with autonomy. About you:

  • A recognised legal qualification as a solicitor or barrister
  • Strong knowledge of English contract law and commercial agreements
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
  • A collaborative and strategic approach to legal business partnering
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in employment, immigration, regulatory, or property law (desirable)
