Contracts & Procurement Lawyer

Rate: 50-60 per day - Negotiable DOE
Contract Length: 3-6-month initial contract

Spencer Clarke Group have teamed with a local authority in the Northwest region who are seeking an experienced and motivated Contracts and Procurement Lawyer.

You will provide high-quality, timely, and practical legal advice across a broad range of commercial, contract, and procurement law matters, supporting major projects, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Council's governance and contract management arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and support on commercial, contract, and procurement matters, including drafting and negotiation of contracts and frameworks.
  • Ensure all contracting and procurement activities comply with the Public Contracts Regulations, Council Constitution, and governance arrangements.
  • Advise on contract disputes, risk management strategies, and complex commercial transactions.

About You

  • Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. Solicitor or Barrister).
  • Proven experience in contract drafting, management, and dispute resolution, as well as in commercial and procurement law.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of contract and procurement law, EU and UK legislation, and local government governance.
  • Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment (desirable).
