Technical Claims Handler – Large Loss Team
About the RoleWe’re looking for an experienced Technical Claims Handler to join our Large Loss Team. In this role, you’ll proactively manage a portfolio of complex motor claims (including Vulnerable Road Users) up to £25K. You’ll play a key part in driving best outcomes through strong technical expertise, sound judgement, and effective negotiation.
What You’ll Do

Manage a caseload of motor claims in line with our philosophy, procedures, and service standards.

Control indemnity spend through well-reasoned liability and quantum arguments.

Carry out thorough investigations from the outset, using telephone contact to gather evidence quickly and effectively.

Conduct background and open-source enquiries in line with best practice.

Maintain accurate reserves and good file discipline, ensuring regular case reviews and timely progress.

Demonstrate strategic awareness with strong cost-benefit analysis.

Liaise confidently with Panel Solicitors on litigated claims, providing clear instructions and leading cases directly.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FCA standards and Treating Customers Fairly.
What We’re Looking For

Experience handling motor claims, with solid knowledge of liability and indemnity issues.

Strong understanding of RTA, indemnity law (S148/S151), joint tortfeasor rule, and relevant case law.

Working knowledge of MIB, motor trade risks, and personal injury claims (Fast Track and Multi-Track exposure beneficial).

Experience of CPR protocols, costs tables, and litigation processes.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence, and build strong relationships.

Strong customer service focus and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.

Commercially aware, adaptable, and keen to develop your skills further.
