Asbestos Technical Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected Asbestos Consultancy that’s continuing to expand across the UK. With a strong focus on delivering a high-quality service to a wide portfolio of clients, they’re now looking to bring in a Technical Manager to help maintain their technical standards and drive forward best practice.
This could be the perfect next step for someone who’s been working as a Deputy Technical Manager or Compliance Auditor and is ready to take on more responsibility in a company where your input will be valued and supported.
The role
The Technical Manager will play a key part in maintaining UKAS accreditations to ISO17025 and ISO17020. You’ll be involved in a wide range of technical and compliance-led tasks across surveying, analytical and laboratory activities and you’ll also contribute to staff development by supporting ongoing training and competency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing compliance with asbestos technical procedures through audit reviews and training
- Managing the audit schedule and employee authorisation records
- Reviewing QA processes across inspection and testing activities
- Supporting internal training initiatives, including toolbox talks and refreshers
- Supporting new staff through induction and probation
- Managing internal QC and external proficiency testing schemes (RICE and AIMS)
- Assisting with UKAS assessments and closing out findings
- Carrying out site-based technical audits
- Overseeing equipment calibration, servicing and consumables
- Providing hands-on support and guidance to the wider technical team
To be considered, you will need:
- Strong asbestos background is essential
- Minimum of P401, P402, P403, P404 or Certificate of Competence in Asbestos
- Sound understanding of UKAS accreditations – ISO17025 and ISO17020
- Experience conducting technical audits
- Confident communicator with excellent organisational skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing time across varied responsibilities
- A full UK driving license - this role will require national travel at times, therefore willingness to travel is essential
