HR Business Partner

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic HR Business Partner to join one of the fastest growing mixed use and living operators within the UK. With ambitious growth plans, the business is entering an exciting period of transformation and expansion.

This role is ideal for someone with retail sector experience, a strong operational HR background, and proven ability in internal communications and engagement. You will work closely with senior leaders, supporting performance and engagement across a diverse portfolio, and helping shape the People agenda in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment.

Summary of the Position

The HR Business Partner will instinctively build strong relationships across the company and be a trusted advisor to operational and leadership teams. You’ll champion a high-performance, high-engagement culture while supporting the full spectrum of people-related strategies. Key areas of focus include performance, engagement, TUPE, retention, and internal communications.

Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnership

  • Understand business priorities, performance, and challenges across the portfolio
  • Build effective relationships with leaders and managers to drive high performance
  • Act as a strategic partner, delivering high-impact people initiatives
  • Lead and implement people change projects and improvement programmes
  • Role model leadership aligned with company values

Employee Relations

  • Provide proactive advice to resolve issues early
  • Manage complex ER matters (e.g., grievances, disciplinaries, investigations)
  • Ensure compliance with employment law and fair HR practices
  • Coach and support managers in managing people effectively
  • Maintain and develop HR policies in partnership with the People Advisor

Resourcing

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to shape roles and hiring plans
  • Support seamless onboarding and ensure an excellent candidate experience

Performance & Talent Management

  • Coach and upskill managers to lead high-performing teams
  • Identify current and future capability gaps through talent reviews
  • Support succession planning, career development and training delivery

Engagement & Internal Communications

  • Maximise usage of employee engagement tools and survey platforms
  • Drive consistent and brand-aligned internal communications
  • Lead on initiatives that promote inclusion, belonging and representation
  • Coordinate and support the employee-led Soul Committee

Systems & Reporting

  • Provide monthly people data and insights to inform business decisions
  • Use analytics to drive retention and employee experience strategies
  • Champion digital solutions and continuous improvement of HR systems
